"The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is important, especially for BirdLife, because it has the most comprehensive mandate amongst the international treaties dealing with biodiversity. In contrast to other treaties which are mostly single-issue agreements (eg wetlands, climate change, international trade, desertification); the mandate of the CBD encompasses all these issues and more.
