Bird Flocks of Sinharaja

The “Mixed Feeding Flocks” of Sinharaja National Heritage Wilderness Area is the worlds’ most extensively research flock with over 400 data sets since 1981. This research work at Sinharaja was initiated by March for Conservation and continued by Prof. Sarath Kotagama and Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka. Contributing to this study was late P. B. Karunaratne, and Dr. Eben Goodale. The study has enabled the publication of numerous research papers and the doctoral thesis of Eben Goodale. It has thus brought fame to Sinharaja in terms of avifaunal studies.
